Comparing Power and Capability: 2023 Nissan Pathfinder vs. 2023 Nissan Rogue

The automotive world is buzzing with the latest upgrades to Nissan's SUV lineup - the Pathfinder and the Rogue. Both vehicles offer significant enhancements in design and power, offering distinctive driving experiences that cater to different driver preferences.

Nissan Pathfinder

At the heart of the Pathfinder lies a robust 284-horsepower 3.5-litre Direct Injection V6 engine, capable of producing 259 lb-ft of torque. Matched with an all-new 9-speed automatic transmission, the Pathfinder promises smooth acceleration, even in demanding situations such as merging or driving out of a turn. A standard Intelligent 4WD system with 7-position Drive and Terrain Mode Selector ensures confident handling in a variety of road and weather conditions, displaying the mode selection conveniently on the meter cluster.

This SUV, sporting a bold new design, also impresses with its 6,000-pound maximum towing capacity and seating for up to eight. Added comfort and flexibility come via the new captain's chairs option and the new EZ FLEX one-touch release. Modern driving assistance and safety technologies round off this impressive package, with features such as the 10.8-inch Head-up Display, 12.3-inch digital dashboard, ProPILOT Assist with Navi-Link, and the standard Nissan Safety Shield 360.

Nissan Rogue

On the other hand, the Rogue focuses on delivering improved power and fuel efficiency with its all-new 1.5-litre variable compression (VC) Turbo engine. Paired with a new Xtronic transmission, the Rogue offers thrilling driving dynamics while being economical on fuel. This innovative engine delivers 201 horsepower and 225 lb-ft of torque - marking an increase of 11% and 24%, respectively, over the 2021 model. Remarkably, even with this boost in power, the Rogue achieves an estimated fuel economy of 7.6 L/100km combined (AWD).

This VC-Turbo engine showcases Nissan's pioneering work in variable compression technology, offering two distinct driving profiles—dynamic performance and eco/efficient—on driver demand. Furthermore, improvements in the Rogue's VC-Turbo technologies have enhanced performance in acceleration, fuel economy, and emissions.

The Rogue also comes with a new generation Xtronic transmission, boasting a wider gear ratio coverage and lower friction than its predecessor. This transmission combines a twin oil pump system and a newly developed control valve system, promising better acceleration feel and enhanced fuel economy.

In conclusion, while both the Nissan Pathfinder and Rogue offer substantial upgrades in power and capability since their respective redesigns, the Pathfinder leans towards rugged power and capacity, whereas the Rogue delivers a balance of performance and efficiency.
