Why Choose the 2023 Nissan Rogue over the 2023 Hyundai Tucson?

The 2023 Nissan Rogue is a very popular SUV that benefits from a lot of advantages over its competition. Here are the main reasons why you should choose it instead of the Hyundai Tucson.

More efficient engines

The 2023 Nissan Rogue is available with two engines, both of which are more efficient than the standard engine of the Tucson. Indeed, the 2.5L four-cylinder engine found in the entry-level Rogue S delivers fuel economy figures of 9.0 L/100km in the city and 7.1 L/100 km on the highway while the 2.5L engine in the Tucson consumes 9.4L and 7.4L in the same circumstances. This advantage is even more apparent in the Rogue equipped with the new 1.5L turbocharged three-cylinder engine since that powertrain shows consumption figures as low as 8.4 L/100km in the city and 6.8 L/100km on the highway. In addition, this new engine makes more power than the Tucson’s powertrain, at 201 horsepower and 225 lb-ft of torque over the Hyundai’s 187 horsepower and 178 lb-ft of torque. Even the Rogue’s standard engine makes more torque than the Tucson, at 181 lb-ft.

A better value

The 2023 Nissan Rogue offers most of the same standard equipment as the Hyundai Tucson as well as a few exclusive features while being priced slightly lower in the case of the entry-level model. This means that the Rogue is more accessible for many buyers but it doesn’t feel like a cheap vehicle. In addition, many desirable features such as the Nissan ProPILOT Assist system that can help control the speed and the steering of the vehicle in certain circumstances is standard from the second trim level in the lineup. By comparison, Hyundai’s comparable Highway Driving Assist is only available on the top trim level of the Tucson, which means you would have to spend almost $10,000 more in order to get the same capabilities in the Korean SUV.

A safe choice

The 2023 Nissan Rogue also appeals to buyers looking for a safe vehicle to drive their family around. While the 2023 Hyundai Tucson is also a safe vehicle, the Rogue edges it out due to its advanced driver assistance technologies and its better impact protection. This is why the IIHS awarded the 2023 Nissan Rogue its Top Safety Pick award even after having made its tests more difficult while the Hyundai didn’t make the list.
